Redeeming a Spotify gift card
Redemption takes a minute. The thing that stops most people is region — a code bought for one country will not apply to an account registered in another, and nothing about the code itself reveals that.
SHORT ANSWER
Go to spotify.com/redeem while signed in, enter the code, and confirm. The code must match your account's country, and your account must not be on an active billing cycle through Apple, Google or a mobile carrier — those must be cancelled first, or the code will be refused.
Redeeming

- 04Confirm. Credit applies to your account immediately and is consumed at the start of each billing period.
Region is the thing that catches people
Gift cards are issued per country and only work on accounts registered in that country. A US card will not redeem on a Canadian or French account, even though the currency and the service are otherwise identical.
Check your account country under Account, then Edit profile. If it does not match the card, changing it is possible but generally requires a payment method registered in the new country — which is often more trouble than the card is worth. Buy the card for the country your account is already in.

The third row is worth knowing before you buy. If you subscribed through the iOS app, Spotify does not control your billing and cannot apply credit until that subscription is cancelled in your Apple account. The card is not faulty; it simply cannot be applied yet.
What credit does and does not do
- Credit covers Premium Individual, and can be applied to other plans where they are available in your country.
- It does not expire once applied to an account.
- It is consumed at each billing date until exhausted, after which your normal payment method resumes.
- It cannot be refunded or converted back to money once redeemed.
